One Life One Heart (OLOH) International is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to charitable and educational purposes. Founded by Dr. Michelle M. Kang in October 2014, OLOH International provides programs and services for victims of sexual abuse—men and women of all ages—through accessible public venues, primarily churches. Its services are offered regardless of race, ethnicity, or religion.
The OLOH Program is community-based, victim-centered, music-based, and interaction-enriched, designed to create safe and welcoming spaces within local communities and support the mental healthcare needs of sexual abuse victims in their healing and empowerment. It is culturally responsive, free of monetary burdens for participants, and sensitive to language barriers. Trained volunteers, including professionals and nonprofessionals in mental health, run programs. One of the program’s most distinctive features is its emphasis on the role of language and communication in interactions between survivors and volunteers. The OLOH approach provides vital mental health care services outside traditional methods, offering an innovative perspective on mental health. By expanding access, particularly for underserved communities, OLOH helps survivors reflect on their experiences, identify their needs, and take steps toward healing and recovery. Instead of traditional counseling, the program focuses on observation and constructive feedback, empowering survivors to understand their journey.
In addition to direct services, OLOH International actively works to raise awareness about sexual abuse and its impact. The organization delivers education through free lectures, booklets, campaigns, and programs held in public venues such as churches, schools, and libraries. It also leverages social media and its website to share facts, statistics, and resources, aiming to increase public knowledge and promote prevention efforts on both local and global scales.
The overarching mission of One Life One Heart International is to address and educate about sexual abuse, provide accessible programs and services, and empower survivors on their path to healing. By collaborating with volunteers, community venues, and other nonprofit organizations, OLOH seeks to foster meaningful change and create lasting impact.
OLOH International operates through public contributions, government funding, and financial support from foundations, individuals, and corporations.
